ISSUE #76

This week's playlist is the result of a thought experiment: what if I were asked to DJ a new Monster Mash? This led me deep into this early-2010s occult-flavored club genre called witch house, which is all about mixing the post-punk/industrial sounds of the 80s with electronica and the internet and Unicode symbols. It's vaporwave's goth sister. It's what you'd hear from Dracula's castle at 3 a.m., or like if Hansel and Gretel stumbled into Electric Forest. It feels like jazz for people who split their tongues. Love it!

Mainly it's a good soundtrack for a strobe light or a dark living room, and pairs well with that blood-punch we all love, or if they made slime-flavored White Claws. For fans of: Blade movies, the Deathday Party in Chamber of Secrets, eating a whole roll of Sour Bubble Tape.
